The difference between oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel:

1. Different nature

Oriented silicon steel: Oriented silicon steel, also known as cold-rolled transformer steel, is an important ferrosilicon alloy used in the transformer (iron core) manufacturing industry.

Unoriented silicon steel: Unoriented silicon steel is a ferrosilicon alloy with very low carbon content, and its grains are randomly oriented in the deformed and annealed steel plate.

2. Different characteristics

Oriented silicon steel: The magnetic properties of oriented silicon steel are strongly directional, with the lowest iron loss value in the rolling direction, the highest permeability and a high magnetic induction value under a certain magnetization field. The silicon content of oriented silicon steel is about 3%, and it is required that the oxide inclusion content in the steel is low, and it must contain some inhibitor (MnS, A1N).

3. Different production processes

Oriented silicon steel: Oriented silicon steel is smelted by oxygen converter, and the billet is rolled into finished thickness by hot rolling, normalizing, cold rolling, intermediate annealing and secondary cold rolling, and then decarburized and high-temperature annealing, and finally coated with an insulating layer.

Non-oriented silicon steel: pre-desulfurization of molten iron, and secondary desulfurization by adding Ca0+CaF: flux or rare earth elements and calcium during bconverter blowing. The boiling molten steel is further desulfurized after being decarburized by vacuum treatment. Ferrosilicon with low content of titanium and zirconium was selected for alloying.
