Silicon steel sheet is one of the key materials for manufacturing transformers, and its performance is directly related to the performance and geometry of transformers. The properties of the silicon steel sheet must be clarified first, and then the core column diameter, cross-sectional area and yoke cross-sectional area must be determined in turn, and the full size of the core can only be determined after the winding calculation is completed.

Introduction
The silicon steel sheet used for transformers has a relatively high silicon content. Both sides of the silicon steel sheet are coated with insulating paint, so that the silicon steel sheets stacked on top of each other are insulated from each other, and the thickness of the insulating paint is only a few microns.
The part of the winding sleeve in the iron core is called the "core column", and the part that only plays the role of the magnetic circuit without the winding is called the "yoke". Where the iron core surrounds the winding, it is called shell type; Where the windings surround the core column, it is called the core type.

Does a transformer change the current?
Transformers use electromagnetic induction to change voltage and current. This change, called transformer action, describes how the transformer changes the AC signal from its primary component to its secondary component (as shown in the equation above). Current enters with voltage.

Why use lamination in transformers?
Why are transformer cores laminated? Transformer cores need to be laminated to reduce eddy currents generated by the induced voltage through the core, thereby reducing heat loss throughout the core. Therefore, the transformer core is laminated to minimize the eddy current flowing through it.
